Scorpio New Moon

by Kim Gould on November 17, 2009

I was just chatting with my friend Jamie Walters (www.IvySea.com) about living in the moment and she shared this with me.  I thought you might enjoy it.

“A man was lost in the woods. Really lost. The woods were super dark and it was cold. Then there was an opening!   He discovered a tiny cabin alight from inside. The man knocked on the door. Someone opened it and handed him a lantern.  He felt very grateful and relieved until deep discouragement descended.

“This lamp will never light the whole way, it will illuminate only the one next step in front of me!,” he said.  The benefactor replied “Then take that one lit step. And the next will reveal itself.   Practice this. And, though you may yet not know where you’re going, you are no longer lost.”

This is one of the major evolutionary lessons we are learning. To let go of ‘goals’ and to trust the journey. It needs to be this way because the journey often (always?) takes us to places we would probably prefer to avoid.

Scorpio is the guardian of a dark threshold that ultimately leads to the world of light. This is not a story about  dark is bad, light is good. Without the contrast of the dark, the light would not be visible.  The two together manifest form, alone they are each formlessness.

Today’s  Scorpio New Moon happens in the Sacral Centre.  It continues the theme of taking back ownership of our own energy, our vitality, our creativity and our sexuality.  It’s about being able to be consciously present in each moment, because our energy is free to flow along universal songlines.

Scorpio New Moon

Scorpio brings up psychological issues of control, vulnerability, passionate and intense intimacy and how we use our own sacral power to navigate those deep waters.

In the Gate of Possession in Great Measure, where we find the Sun and Moon, we can become aware of difficulties in dealing with others in a deep and committed way.  It’s not about being committed to them, but being in alignment with our commitment to ourselves.

In the New Moon chart we have a pretty amazing thing going on.

Let’s start with Mars and Pluto, both of which have rulership of Scorpio.  They are both in the G Centre (collective heart) and they are both connected by transits to the Sun/New Moon in the Sacral.

Next, Saturn is in almost exact astrological square to Pluto today.  And Saturn is also in the G Centre, also connecting to today’s New Moon.

Thirdly, Mercury is in the Gate of Power of the Great (34), the bridge that connects the Sacral power with the soul purpose and direction of the G Center.   “Inner worth mounts with great force and comes to power.  The gates to success are beginning to open.  Resistance gives way and we forge ahead.  This is the point at which, only too easily, we become the prey of exuberant self confidence.  We must move forward in inner equilibrium.”

Pluto adds “Here one is sure of ultimate success, which consists in achieving one’s purpose, that is, in overcoming danger by going forward.” Pluto warns against allowing the more sensitive and vulnerable aspects of self to keep hiding out due to hesitating caution.

And then, we find the most martial Mars in the Gate of The Army.  How perfect.

If we think of an army as a force for change, we can perhaps work better with the energy of this hexagram.  “A person or group charged with carrying out some great and wordly mission. “

Just like an army, each one of us needs good discipline to stay true to ourselves, and to make the best use of our personal power.  (Mercury in Gate 34 echoes this theme very strongly).

Pluto and Saturn both require self discipline and this is the place where the square that they are forming now resolves itself.

This month we will find ourselves on the fulcrum point of change in all our relationships with others.  We are conscious of how we are using our power, we don’t allow anyone to steal our sacral energy, nor do we try to manipulate or control others.

We stay present in the moment, trusting in the grace of our journey.  We treat everyone with the gentle understanding and unconditional love that we extend to ourselves.  We stand up and claim our role as leader, even if others don’t see the subtle forms our leadership takes.

The fire in heaven above shines far, and all things stand out in the light and become manifest.

in love

This is brilliant: “It’s about being able to be consciously present in each moment, because our energy is free to flow along universal songlines.”

The messages you’ve shared in this entry really provide insights on how to navigate the tensions of this creative energy. These insights, like the other entries, offer a big clue about why my HD reading with you was every so helpful (and continues to be). Highly recommended.
Love,
Jamie

Jamie’s tale is a gem of timeless wisdom. Thanks for sharing. Your interpretation of Scorpio new moon made me shiver – how truly great this design. I have always had some weird things happening to me during this month, and it has not always been pleasant. Thanks for reminding us that darkness is what makes light apparent.
