Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse April 2013

Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse on Thursday  25th April 2013 at 8pm UT, 1pm PDT, 4pm EDT, and 6am on Friday 26th April AEST.

crystalheartMy friend Lea is writing a book about sustainability.  She explained to me on the weekend that we know something is alive if it has choice.  A rock doesn’t have too many choices and we don’t consider it to be alive.  On the other hand, you and I have choices.

It might be clear to you and I, but science has a complex relationship to the idea of what’s living and what isn’t.

When the Gaia Hypothesis came out in 1969, claiming that everything on the planet was linked in a system of life, traditional scientists rejected the idea.  Because rocks aren’t alive, and a dislodged rock rolling down the side of the Grand Canyon certainly has nothing to do with the polar melt.  In the 43 years since then, perhaps we’ve come to understand that it does.

You and I clearly have choices.  And perhaps we are beginning to understand how important those choices are, not just for our own personal eco-system, but for the whole system of life on this planet.  Not only does each small choice enfold into our world the things that define who we are and how we live, but they also impact on greater issues.

I’ve been struggling with using plastic bin liners lately.  It’s something I’ve done for decades and yet lately every time I put in a new bin liner I can’t help but see an image in my mind of the plastic waste dump that’s forming at the bottom of our oceans.  I can’t help but imagine each bit of plastic I use being added to that pile, being my part of the problem.

The thing is, I’m so accustomed to living in a certain way.  In my family it’s a good thing, an accepted thing, to have a plastic bin liner and empty the kitchen bin into the trash each night.  That’s just how things are done in my world.  Till now.   This week’s Full Moon shines a light on how things are done and the choices we make.

How Do You Create Your World?

526488_10151564195760865_1306560103_nWe all have a deep instinctual sense of what nourishes us.  This intuitive understanding of what we need in life is there for a purpose.  It’s meant to point us towards what naturally and easily sustains us.  The thing is though, most of us have never really had a taste for what’s naturally good for us.

There are reasons for that.  Not necessarily good reasons, but real ones.  The most obvious reason this week is that we’re on the tail end of a few millenium of needing to give up our personal preferences for the good of our family and community.

Deep down in your DNA there’s a struggle going on just now.  It’s a struggle between your belief that you won’t survive unless your own personal needs are met, and a co-existing belief that you have to comply with the ideas and beliefs of the community no matter how bad things get for you, or the planet.

For me, it’s a struggle between keeping a ‘nice’ house and going against my personal values by drowning the world in plastic waste.  It’s a choice between incessantly cleaning and a deeper need to create.   The need to have a clean house is deep, complusive and full of shame in my family of undefined Spleen Centres, and it calls to my energy even against my conscious will.

Lucky for us, Pluto is on our side.  Trying to hold onto old shared beliefs that aren’t in our personal best interest isn’t going to cut it with Pluto, but if we open to the inner world and face the conflicted desires we find there Pluto will bring us a powerful transformation.  This is about something as mundane as using plastic bin liners, not eating chocolate, wearing purple hats.  It’s also much deeper because as we make personal choices that are distinctly about choosing and creating a life that deeply sustains us, we also bring the world around us to life.

The needs of our ancestors are no longer relevant in a world in transition.  We need to make fresh new choices, and we need to do it consciously.  This isn’t selfish, it’s a cosmic imperative that you break free and express all that you are in this moment.

The Full Moon and Pluto

The Moon and Pluto are in a channel that tends to be overwhelmed by trying to deal with all of life’s challenges. The thing is, and this is at the very heart of the April Full Moon, most of our challenges come from our reacting so quickly to anything that makes us feel threatened that we don’t even get to see and understand what’s really going on. Moving quickly from one challenge to the next, cobbling together whatever solution we can think of, we move far from our natural birthright of harmony and balance, and into overwhelm.

As we take more time to sit in our own discomfort we create the space for our own needs to arise over the foam and froth of our conditioning.  This Full Moon gives us the chance to stand firm against the largely unexamined fear that we will die if we dare to put ourselves first.  It’s alerting us to the fact that it’s possible  not to react immediately to the unconscious demands of our ancestors, demands that are buried in our dna.  Instead we can wait quietly for our own quiet still voice to guide us in our choices.

Black Sheep-ness

This Full Moon brings up our black sheep-ness, the place where we have taken a hit for our family and community.   Trying to avoid becoming the poster child of bad, we have suppressed something instinctual and primal within us rather than display how bad we truly are.   We have split something powerful, something inherently valuable off from our conscious world and our capacity for choice.  This part of us is not truly alive, because it doesn’t get to make choices.  We’ve buried it.

The Full Moon is occurring in a channel with Pluto.  When the Moon and Pluto get together we find deeply subconscious emotional compulsions, behaviours with their roots in our early childhood and strong feelings about our relationship with our mothers.  Pluto and the Moon are both powerful, instinctive and compulsive unconscious energies.  Put them together and you have intensity, and the capacity for releasing something that can transform your entire life.

Like a nuclear explosion it may seem to come in a small innocuous package that belies the intensity and power of the shift.

The Channel of Struggle

The Full Moon occurs in what’s known as the Channel of Struggle.  Let’s have a deeper look at that channel.  At one end we have the Spleen Centre, the place of physical wellbeing.   The Earth and the Moon will be in Gate 28 at the Spleen. This gate says you have overdone something, taken on too much and gotten yourself out of balance.  There’s too much to deal with and the whole structure is in danger of falling down upon you.  For some reason, rather than living in a healthy eco-system with dynamical balance, rather than responding to life’s changes with healthy choices, we keep piling up more and more till we can’t deal anymore with what we have in our lives.

At the other end we have the Root Centre, home of the adrenals, fight and flight.  Home of stability, security and our need to belong.  The Root Centre is reactive, and in Gate 38 we react when we experience opposition.   In this channel, the Root Centre reacts by forcing a solution to the problem rather than waiting to see what might evolve.  The opposition we experience in Gate 38 could be someone expressing an opinion we don’t agree with, or wearing the wrong clothes, or voting against a proposal we’ve worked hard on.  Pluto’s current three year transit in this gate brings up a primal response to our feelings of opposition.

This channel asks us to seek common ground rather than rush to react.  It teaches us that we may never agree on the small everyday details of life, but we can always seek common ground on major issues.  You and your teenager might not agree on an appropriate curfew time, but you can both agree that you need to share a warm and loving home.

There is something in you that has been crushed in order to stay alive.  Your body knows all about it.  Your body has been supporting you for many long years in keeping this aspect of yourself deeply hidden.  However it’s time now to bring it back into consciousness.   The oppositions we have been reacting to have been largely a result of our own inner opposition.  We have projected out into the world what we felt unable to deal with in ourselves, and then reacted against it.  To cease to react is a signal to the world that we are accepting some part of us that has been deemed unacceptable, and yet that is what we are doing this week.

As we learn not to react, and open to that primal intuitive sense of what truly nourishes us, we will discover with delight that it doesn’t kill us to meet this part of ourselves.  That we are not at risk of annihilation if we allow ourselves to know what we truly need to create a healthy balanced life, rather than one that has us in constant overwhelm.  We create our lives through our everyday choices and this Full Moon brings an intensity and power to opening up that process to more consciousness.

You’re doing it right if you feel more alive despite the fear.  You’re doing it wrong if you find yourself thinking “I don’t have a choice”  or “I have to do it this way” or if you find yourself sighing as you do something that just doesn’t feel alive.  This is a body-centered shift, and anything that creates conflict between your mind/emotions and your body is a sign that you’re getting close to the action.  Listen to what your body is telling you, and trust it.

The Sun and Mars are in the Gate of Nourishment, giving us the courage and sheer dynamism to go for it.  There are powerful forces on our side and it’s time for us to claim our full power of conscious choice back from the old struggles of the past.   Our DNA is shifting and we are acquiring a larger vision and  a place at the table of  flourishing life.

Full Moon ~ October 2012

Full Moon October 2012 - Human Design ChartFull Moon in Gate 27.6 ~ 6 Taurus ~ 29th October 2012 at 19:49UT

It’s time we all had a close look at how we create our own individual eco-system.  Today’s Full Moon brings our attention to what we are choosing to nourish ourselves with.  What we take into our lives.  What we become as a result.

This Full Moon reveals where we are feeding our own victim consciousness, rather than stepping into our own power.  This process keeps alive the forces of decay, of decline. It cuts us off from life, from true growth, from evolution.

Imagine, as we begin to apply our vital energy to what is truly alive within us, what will be released into the world!

What We Hunger For

The Moon will be in the Gate of Nourishment ~  Gate 27.

Line 6 says we are now capable of choosing to do what’s best for the highest good.  It’s about making our personal energy available to the divine will.

The Sun will be in the Gate of Great Exceeding ~ Gate 28.  It tells us that we can wade into this new flow of energy, but we are likely to drown if we are not tuning into the feel of life – particularly in our physical body.

This is about shifting our concept of what we hunger for.  This is not selfishness, not greed, not self interest.  It’s knowing instinctively when life calls our energy out, and experiencing that as a source of true nourishment at the personal level.  Can you feel life right down at the cellular level?

We all hunger for life and life hungers for growth.  This Full Moon is a portal into a new dimension, via a bifurcation point where life and evolution takes one path, death and decay the other.  This is not a once off invitation only event, but a point in time to set our intentions and tune into what feels right.  Remember, we are only at the beginning and yes, you are doing it right!  It just doesn’t feel so great for all of us quite yet!

Divine What?

Since 2009, the channel between the Spleen Centre and the Heart Centre has been home to a range of planets that have been quietly cleansing our personal will and tuning it up to divine will.

On this Full Moon we have:

Gate 44 – Klotho, Industria, Pandora, Poseidon, Deucalion and Ceto.  This is a lot of busy busy energy trying busily to avoid drowning in the apparent horrors of our own subconscious.  Gate 44 is a wonderful gate, known always to me by the classic hexagram 44 warning – the woman is bold, do not marry this woman!  Pandora was the Earth Goddess of Abundance, and she’s trying to come up for a breathe, but we keep busy (did I mention that already) and keep pushing her down again.  A bold woman, trying to get her head above water!

Gate 26 – Diana, Pholus, Ixion, Hylonome, Cupido.  When we actually let go of our own childish need to believe in our own omnipotence, we discover something quite interesting.

In particular, look at the meaning of Cupido:

This is about fertile abundance of creative effort shared in the harvesting of it.   There is the understanding that what is given to one does not diminish, but increases what is shared with others.   (

We don’t have to do much at all to create magic.  The huge efforts we had to make as a child to try to have our needs met created an illusion of struggle and effort.  Being forced to share has stripped a lot of us of the feeling for that natural flow of beneficial will, creating instead a sense of lack.

Those old heroics make us less rather than more safe and secure in the world.  I’m watching the gift of some crucial public space in Sydney to a local billionaire on the grounds that he will save our financial future by building a VIP casino there for wealthy Asian high rollers.  We don’t need billions, or at least we only need them when we are trying to make heroic efforts to save ourselves from …. what?  Our dreams?  When we hold our energy intact until the right moment to release it in small amounts, we find a fractal truth that is constantly bringing abundance.

This channel will be activated by major planets a number of times between now and the culmination of 2012, so expect this issue to rise up to mass consciousness.

If you feel exhausted, unbalanced, as if you can’t hold onto the old structures of your life any longer, you’re probably right.  It’s time to cull what isn’t supporting the life in your life.  It’s time to invest your life force energy more consciously, and to trust in your intuitive knowing of what amount of investment is required.  It’s time to tread more gently, slowly, carefully.  It’s time to let go of trying to save the world, and instead to learn to live fully in the world.

Full Moon July 2012 ~ Biology Shifts

Full Moon at 12+ Capricorn – Gate 38 line 3 – 3rd  July  18:51 UT.

You can also read yesterdays’ post Fear is Just A Frequency

It takes a tremendous amount of individual effort for a chicken to peck it’s way out of an egg.   And while it’s peck peck pecking away it has only one goal.  Freedom.  It wants to get out of that egg.

It’s a linear equation – in the egg v’s out of the egg.

It’s a different story when the chicken breaks free of the constricting egg, takes it’s first breathe of air, spreads it’s wings and looks around.  Now, here are possibilities!   What to make of this interesting new world full of strange smells, sounds and sights!

We’re a bit like that chicken just now.  Around 1999 we began to feel too constrained in our current lives.  New potentials seemed to loom on the horizon.  Like me, you might have thought all you had to do was reach out and grasp them.  If only we’d known what the journey involved we might not have pecked quite so hard at that egg, but here we are, taking our first glimpse out of the crack we’ve made.

It has taken a huge individual effort and struggle for each one of us to get to this point.  We’ve had to step away from all the commonly held beliefs that we had previously taken for reality.  Each one of us has often felt alone, abandoned, betrayed, confused.  It’s all very well to chip away at that protective shell, but what will we have to replace it?  What will nurture us, keep us safe?

This is linear thinking – I’m in the egg, I’m out of the egg.  Once we’re actually out of the egg the whole nature of reality changes.  Life presents such an array of possibilities the old either/or reality seems light years behind us.   This is the quantum reality, characterised by fractal pathways and unlimited opportunity to connect and create in all directions at once.  But just now, we still believe, at least a little bit, that all we have to do is keep moving in that one direction … forward!

Well the bad news, and the good news, is that life is about to get a bit more complex than that.  Bad news because life is beginning to ask us to step up to a higher level of responsibility for what we choose to create.  And good news, because our ability to create is taking a quantum leap.  Literally.

Are You Complex?  Or just Complicated?

Complexity is quite different to complication by the way.  It’s an important point.  Back before E=mc2, neither complexity nor complication were particularly relevant.  But with the advent of relativity the way was paved for complex mathematics and an entire new universe based on imaginary numbers.   It’s that imaginary world that is coming into reality now, and to manifest our dreams we have some evolving to do.

Unlike the magical world of complexity, complications are part of the old world, bits of our lives that don’t fit how we see things.  But more on that later.

The Global Wild West

At the genetic level we have three evolutionary levels of activations – the tribal, the individual and the collective.

The most ancient, the tribal level of consciousness, doesn’t recognise the individual and puts the survival of the group above all else.  If you have to be sacrificed for the good of the group, so be it, and we are happy to be able to offer ourselves up in this way.   It was an honour to be chosen.  At this level of consciousness there’s only one amorphous being, and it’s the tribe.  We can observe tribal consciousness in Family Systems therapy – where members of the family share out the various roles so that everyone together makes up one complete person.  You be the black sheep and I’ll be the responsible one.  Tribes are complete within themselves, they don’t even need other tribes!

The next level is the individual level.  It’s here that we struggle to define a recognisable sense of self.   Imagine the wild west without individuals!  Individuals focus on us or them.  At the cultural level this is national – the cold war is based on the consciousness of individual nations.  It’s a linear event just like the chicken pecking its way out of the egg.  I win, you lose.

The most recent level of consciousness is collective.  We could also call it the global level.  It’s here that we balance out our need to be a distinct and recognisable part of the whole without being lost in a soup of oneness.  Collective or Global Consciousness contains all the previous levels within it, and is where we find complexity and systems theory arising.  Like the chicken popping its little head out of the egg, having made it as a distinct individual into the world, suddenly we find a whole lot of others we can join with to create something unimaginable.

This is fractal creation, quantum reality.  Complexity at this level simply means that each action has an unlimited number of possible outcomes and we get to choose which one we prefer.  And who we prefer to do it with.  This level of consciousness brings us 3D movies and Facebook.

“The Tree of Life is represented by a combination of circles and lines when drawn in two dimensions. But this flat representation belies an inner world composed of planes of consciousness and interconnecting pathways.”    Naomi Ozaniec

What does all this chicken and egg talk have to do with the Full Moon?

Within your Human Design Chart we can easily track your different layers of consciousness – tribal, individual and collective/global.  This Full Moon is occurring at the Individual level, in a Gate that has us locked in a belief that we are struggling for our very survival.

We’re so hooked on the idea of getting out of that egg, we can hardly see the infinite possibilities surrounding us.  On the other hand, we’re so overwhelmed by what those possibilities might ask of us that we are considering that the egg wasn’t such a bad place after all.

Today’s Full Moon represents a quantum leap in our biology – our neural pathways and our dna are responding to the frequencies.  We are leaving behind the old linear, dualistic and mechanistic world.  This is a wave that is depositing us on the shore of quantum reality and all the infinite possibilities for creative intelligence and manifestation that it holds.

Full Moon July 2012 Human Design Transit Chart

The Full Moon in Gate 38

When we have a Full Moon, we have (in Human Design terms) a Moon/Earth conjunction.  This means that something previously unseen is grounding through us.  In Gate 38 in the Root Centre we’re grounding a knowing that when things are chaotic, when nothing seems to be coming together, we can relax and enjoy the process rather than struggle.  Because .. as we are discovering right now …  what feels chaotic and uncomfortable is really a quantum leap into a greater level of complexity.

If we head on back to the tribal and individual levels when we experience this quantum leap we might find some self sacrifice along with some serious control issues, guilt, shame, blame, etc.  But collective consciousness has invited us to dinner, set a place for us at the table.   We are slowly developing the trust needed, the acceptance required, to turn up and enjoy the meal.  Unlike the individual level, where only the rugged survive, at the collective level life is self organising.  We simply need tend our own space and allow the shift.  Chaos is opening us up to something new.  And it only feels chaotic because our minds are still unfamiliar with the new patterns being created.

Existence means to stand out.  If it had a goal it would not be to make things the same.  The sage likes to see the similarities, but he retains his singular nature.  Paraphrased from Bradford Hartcher, Hexagram 38

The Full Moon is in line 4 of Gate/Hexagram 38, which could be telling us that we have to take our losses on the chin and move on.  But I think it goes deeper than that.  It also asks us what we are tolerating out of fear of standing on our own two feet.  What do we excuse in our lives, even though it is intolerable?  We’ve learnt to excuse these things for the benefit of the tribe, and because, as individuals, we’ve learnt that we alone are responsible.   These things are remnants of our tribal and individual consciousness.

We have to see these intolerable situations in order to make a change in our lives.  If things seem chaotic, if we feel that they’re not going right for us, perhaps we can look a bit more deeply at how they came to be like that.  Perhaps it’s not our own failures at the individual level that created the situations we find uncomfortable?  Perhaps other individuals were involved and there is action we can take to resolve the situation for ourselves.

In seeing the chaos for what it is, we can begin to perceive the new patterns forming in our newly emerging collective consciousness.

Uranus square Pluto

We can’t look at this Full Moon without considering that its happening only 4 degrees out from Pluto.   Sitting between Pluto and the Moon is the centaur Crantor.  Phillip Sedgwick sees Crantor as dealing with emotional abuse and how it traumatises our boundaries.  This makes perfect sense given that the Sun is currently creating a channel with Neptune in a position in the chart that is all about the safety to express our emotions freely.  Crantor’s presence indicates the need to break free from something, even if it is done awkwardly or without our usual finesse.  We just have to do it!

Pluto is in the Gate of  Joy (58).  Bradford Hartcher has a wonderful take on this hexagram, seeing that the waters become stagnant if they can’t move freely, shared between the selves as individual streams, rivers, lagoons, seas.   Water is the only substance on earth that exists in three separate states – liquid, gas and ice.   As water is symbolic of emotions, we can presume that they also exist in three separate states.  Generally the liquid flowing version would be best and its this flow of emotions that is behind the build up of pressure many of us are experiencing right now.

Consider the recognition by the US government that at least 30% of returned soldiers will suffer some sort of mental health issue such as post traumatic stress disorder.  This  official recognition of emotional harm is creating a more gentle world for us all, and it flows directly from the shifts in collective consciousness that you and I as individuals have created through compassion for ourselves and others.

Uranus, Pluto and Pattern Recognition

Uranus is way up in the Ajna Centre, in the mental gate of pattern recognition.  Our ability to recognise patterns is one of humanity’s major advances in consciousness.  Our modern brain is literally hardwired to put every piece of information into it’s proper place.  Our patterns are how we place ourselves in time and space, how we determine our sense of self.  Consider the music you listen to, it’s woven into your pattern of self so profoundly that listening to unusual music can feel uncomfortable.

There is, however, a problem with this pattern recognition mechanism.  It sometimes gets inflexible and won’t allow for new patterns to form.  This is where we keep going around and around, totally confused about why things won’t work out.  They’ve always done so before!  When our pattern recognition gets stuck we wander out of the natural world of ever increasing complexity and into complications.

Both Uranus and Pluto are in the Collective/Global circuitry just now, shifting our pattern recognition that sees only linear either/or options.  I survive or I don’t.  I succeed or I fail.

Also in this circuit are Venus and Magdelana, in Gate 16 at the Throat Centre.  When Magdalena turns up we know that something of the feminine. previously unseen, is about to manifest.  That something feels invisible because we haven’t been accustomed to seeing it at all, let alone placing it within the pattern of our existence.

We are entering a quantum mental field where chaos simply represents a range of possible, albeit previously invisible, choices.

“I see nobody on the road,” said Alice.

“I only wish I had such eyes,” the King remarked in a fretful tone. “To be able to see Nobody! And at that distance too! Why, it’s as much as I can do to see real people, by this light!”

— Lewis Carroll, Through the Looking Glass

Our brains are organised to see what we are accustomed to seeing.  When something new turns up we literally can’t see it.  Have you ever heard about the kitten experiment?  I know, more animals!  The kittens were placed in a controlled environment for the first few months of their lives,  a place where they could only see horizontal lines.  When they were released into the ‘normal world’ they couldn’t see vertical lines, because their eyes and minds had never experienced them.  They knew the kittens couldn’t seem them because they kept bumping into anything made of vertical lines, like a pole for example.

What we see and perceive is based on what we are accustomed to seeing and perceiving.  It’s time for us to begin to perceive what we choose to perceive, not a vision of the world handed down to us from outdated reality matrixes.

Revealing What We Can’t See

Magdalena was invisible to the Romans, who only saw the male Jesus.  The Gnostics had a long tradition of female spiritual leadership and Margaret Starbird is only one of the many researchers who have found substantial evidence that Magdalena was a true historical figure, and at least equal to Jesus. Despite the evidence, most people still are unable to see the feminine divinity present in their lives.

Scientists, being human, have a similar problem with perception.   The contracting universe, junk dna and linear time are all concepts that are going out the window as we discover the previous hidden world of dark matter and constant expansion through the multiverse.  This ‘dark matter’ has always seemed to me to represent the hidden feminine.  Interestingly, it is said that dark matter makes up about 96% of the universe, almost exactly the same percentage as of ‘junk dna’ in our genes!

Did you know that back in medieval times all drawings were in 2D? Now kindergarten children naturally draw 3D objects like cubes.  Our perception is evolving beyond our current dimensional perceptions.

Today’s Full Moon, along with the astrological square currently being formed by Uranus in the Ajna in Gate 17 and Pluto in the Root in Gate 58 represents a shift in our creative intelligence and how we apply it.  The Ajna Centre is the place where we conceive of our world, and the Root Centre is where we manifest our thoughts into creative reality.  This goes way beyond our ‘thoughts’ and into the biology of our dna and brain.  Our very cells are resonating at new frequencies.  Our biology is shifting.

What will you perceive and conceive in your life?

Full Moon – When Ignorance Is The Key

Full moon – 13th August @ 18:57:30 UT – Sun (20 le 41’21”) in Gate 4 line 2 opposite Moon (20 aq 41’21”) in Gate 49 line 2.

A full moon means the Sun and Earth are opposite each other – the energy of the two gates are separated from each other, as we begin the process of integrating our recent experiences in order to combine their energies before the next new moon.

The Sun is in Gate 4, which represents pure new beginnings, as yet unformed by circumstance and experience.  In line 2, the hexagram structure represents the beginning of a partnership between the new masculine (youngest son) and the feminine, both open to learning from each other.

This gate is sometimes referred to as Youthful Folly or Ignorance, and I’ve heard some very negative takes on it!  There is definitely an aspect of ignorance and folly here.  But it’s much more than that.  There is a deep underlying story of shame of our own innocence that this full moon is beginning to untangle and heal.

This full moon comes at the beginning of a new Ceres cycle, as Ceres moves over the Aries Point in the Gate of Innocence (25).  There are so many wonderful codes hidden in the Human Design chart and one of them is that the Aries Point – the beginning of a new astrological cycle, must always begin with a reclaiming of innocence – 0 degrees Aries falls in Gate 25.

If you have watched or read any of the commentary on this weeks events in England, you’ll notice how often the question of parenting comes up.  And not just the obvious questions about why young kids are on the streets at night, but also the broader issue of the responsibilities of government to provide for all members of the community.  A lot of the young people involved have been saying ‘it’s because the government is giving us nothing, we’ve got nothing’.

I read some wonderful comments about the dangers of taking a point of view that excludes the ‘rioters and looters’ from the community – ‘Londoners’ came out to clean up after the rioting (ie, the rioters aren’t true Londoners), these people are like animals, etc.  I’ve been impressed with the level of the debate, although not so much by the reflex ‘hard line’ response, but as today’s Full Moon tells us, it’s a beginning.  The news reports have been carrying a subtle message that these kids are our sons and daughters rather than some alien beings bent on our destruction.

They are  our unacknowledged innocent selves abandoned, neglected and betrayed by a culture that hasn’t valued them beyond their role as workers and consumers.  And the anguish of parents is obvious; what can they do to help their kids against such an overwhelmingly powerful desire to be free of this old regime?  Mars opposite Pluto this week explains the fiery underpinnings as the waste of masculine energy takes to the streets to burn and smash its way back to life.   Cyllarus – the waste of the true creative masculine energy – was also in the Mars/Pluto mix.

My son was talking to me a few days ago about the overwhelming sense of lack his generation feel through having so much on offer and no money to buy.   Not only lack, but a sense of unworthiness, and powerlessness, a sense of being shut out of ‘reality’ with no room to grow and no direction to grow in.

Is it any wonder these kids are smashing shop windows and looting. These consumer products are touted as the reward for inclusion and they feel themselves to be the excluded, the unwanted and  unworthy.   They are a reflection of the way we treat our own young impulse towards new growth, channeling it along worn out pathways towards other peoples destinations rather than our own.

The Moon is in the Gate of Revolution – gate 49.  This is a gate of endings, where we throw off the old regime, old habits and ways of being.  It comes about when two forces see themselves as incompatible and each tries to change the other, rather than allow themselves to be changed.  When we allow ourselves to be changed – in this case that means being open to receiving nourishment for our innocent selves – the revolution is natural, peaceful and without rancour.

Venus is a key player.  She’s been travelling with the Sun since the beginning of August and makes an exact conjunction today, within one degree of the Fulll Moon.  Venus can represent how we value ourselves, and more particularly, what we are capable of receiving based on our intrinsic sense of our own value.  But even more than that, she is the feminine aspect of the creative principle – the receptive partner to Mars’ active principle.  And it is this creative principle that is being healed in us.

There’s a third partner in this creative process and one that is largely hidden in our culture – our ability to ‘open to the will of heaven’ as the I Ching would say.  Today’s Full Moon asks us to be open and receptive to our own innocent nature, to allow it’s explorations into the unknown, to release the shame of not knowing, not understanding.   The fear of being excluded if we don’t play by someone else’s rules. Be like that kid in class who always asks the questions that the other kids wouldn’t ask for fear of looking dumb!  Put your hand up and say ‘I don’t understand why …… how …   who ….  what ….. ‘   How can we ever grow beyond our limits if we don’t push at them a bit, question the unquestionable, rent holes in the garment of shame used to render those limits as our true reality.  Remember the story of the Emperor’s New Clothes?

Embrace the ignoramus within like a child in the womb, accept it, hold it and allow it to be as it is.  Make the experience of not knowing an integral part of yourself and start learning.

Open your world up to the possibility of new life, new growth, unpredictable things beyond your experience.

The known way of doing things, the well established frameworks you have depended on, are stripped away and you lose all sense of being the adult in charge.  Instead you allow the child, the natural learner, to govern your space and lead you through.

Today’s Full Moon reunites mother and child in complete and unreserved sharing of loving presence, a true connection of souls and a blessing in itself without the need for any further meaning (61.2)  This connection gives us a new safe ground from which to venture out and explore the world anew.  It represents the repairing of an ugly rent in humanities ‘mother matrix’, allowing us to begin a renewal of our full and loving connection with the earth.

Full Moon Opens Us to New Directions

Full Moon in Gate 14.2 in Scorpio on 17th May at 11:08am UT

This Full Moon is about us maturing in our ability to hold to our own direction in life.  It’s in a Channel that connects our Sacral Chakra to our Ji Centre –  life force meets soul geometry.

This is a gate of the power that flows from an abundance of money, talent, relationships, energy.  Not feeling quite like that for you just now?  Well that’s because we are beginners at this new game of discovering what we need within ourselves and then sharing it authentically with others.

I’ve been saying for a while now that we are experiencing a change in our understanding of how to succeed.  We are shifting away from cutting a swathe through life as rugged individuals and moving towards relationships and connectedness as the basis for creation.    Our individual selves are being led into a way of relating that is perhaps not very comfortable.

The Sun and Moon are both in the individual circuitry that seeks to find that unique spark in each one of us, to add it to the collective mix, and to create something unheard of, unimagined and entirely wonderful.  In Gate 14.2, the Moon is letting you know that it’s time to move to a new place:

A great chariot is big enough to move great possessions – carrying you, and your life, to a new place.  This should be used to move on.  The only mistake would be to stay in the same place, imagining that you’re stuck.

Clarify where you are, and what you have, and how this enables you to travel onward.  Hold a vision in mind of where you want to arrive and set out to explore.

Hilary Barrett

The Sun in Gate 8.2 has us searching for connection and belonging.  We have been like children who have wandered out into the world expecting one response and getting another response entirely.  In the innocent and subjective way of children we had taken this to mean we were wrong.  But in the past few years our view of the world has expanded and matured and we have come to the point where we finally understand.  There is nothing wrong with us, we had simply landed in an environment that was unsuited to the truth of who we are.  And in this way we have begun to create a new environment:  new friends, new jobs, new families, new healthier bodies.

Gate 8 is a way for us to express our unique creative self in authentic relationships.  In the process we create an entirely new world.  It calls on us to know our own source and to sense our own direction in life.  Holding to our natural affinities, staying true to our own path, we connect and create with new power.

Mars in the Gate of Nourishment (27.3) suggests that it is helpful to be without direction just now.  But that means ‘without direction’ in the old ego sense.  We must be open to possibilities, able to sense what is needed in each moment.  This is how we see what opportunities are opening up for us.  We have to be both entirely self supporting and open to deep and authentic connection with others.  If we continue in our old ways of pouring out the best of ourselves in an unrecognised and unrewarded effort to forge ahead, we simply end up exhausted.

On the other hand, it’s important not to fall into despondency.  We can certainly look around and see that things are not good in the world.  And perhaps there are aspects of our own lives that are very difficult. But each one of us shines a light and we are beginning to connect those lights into a grid that wraps the planet in a loving embrace.

Over the next few days Mars, Mercury and Venus will move through the Gate of Nourishment (in that order).  From 18th to 21st May all three will be there together.  Working in conjunction with Neptune in the Gate of Abundance*, this is activating a shift in how we see our life direction.  As we cut ourselves free from a more childlike dependency – I’ve been so good, why am I not getting what I want? – we can see so much more clearly what it is that we really want to commit our energy to.

This Full Moon asks us to look at options for self-nurturing that we have been unable to explore before now.  We have, consciously or otherwise, assumed someone else would look after these aspects of our lives for us.  In my own experience I’ve been vaguely aware of not wanting to look after myself in various ways, but haven’t been able to push through the wall of grief and infantile rage to get clear enough to do anything about it. A year ago I would have hit a wall filled with feelings of abandonment and neglect.  But now it’s as if that wall has crumbled and I am really enjoying caring for myself.

This is a part of a powerful detoxification of the Sacral Chakra, freeing our bodies from slavery coding.  Achilles is in the Money Gate (45) suggesting that we remove money from any part of our decision making process.  Relying on financial considerations take us straight into fear, into our heads and out of our creative power and freedom to express and connect at the soul level.  Once we get clear about our direction and what we want to commit to, then we can bring financial considerations back in.

Trusting Your Own Sanity

18th April 2011

This is a delicate and potentially confusing Full Moon, whispy with many meanings and fraught with the potential for misunderstanding.  It is bringing a kind of madness to the surface and allowing us to see just how we have survived and what it has done to us.

The Moon is in Gate 50.2.  This gate represents the beginning of a new era.  Hexagram 50 is traditionally known as The Ting, a ceremonial cauldron.  In ancient China, when a new dynasty began a new ting was cast in bronze and the new constitution was engraved upon it.

Gate 50 also represents the link with our ancestors, the union of the family and the care of it’s members.  People with Gate 50 in their design tend to find it difficult to balance their desire to cling to old values and their need to find a new way.

We’re all in that particular boat just now, still clinging to the past and yet desperately seeking out the new.  Sometimes we take responsibility for holding onto things that are naturally falling away in the mistaken belief that this will support others.   If it’s stressful, it’s probably not supporting you or anyone else, no matter what fears you may experience at the idea of letting go.

In line 2 we find a time when the ting is being cast but not yet complete.  We are like seeds, filled with potential and some sense of what we are to grow into, but we are waiting for the rain to come and the germination process to begin.   We are beginning a new era for humanity and this is not a short term project.  The benefits of what we are creating now will continue for a very long time.

What is very important during this time is that we give some seriousness to this process.  We could be cajoled by Mars (21) opposite Saturn (48) to push and shove to try to get things to fit back into the old container.  Especially as Zeus is conjunct Saturn, adding to the Mars feel of wanting to do anything necessary to feel safe, to feel our feet on solid ground, to get our own way.  But Mars needs to let go of his deeply embedded self esteem issues, the things that make him so reactive and aggressively defensive.

The new Mars is protective not defensive, he ensures the safety of what is yours.   There are some things, like blood, that are meant to be kept for you and not shared with others.   There are things in your life that are sacred and meant only for you.  It might be your special moisturiser, or time alone, or a space where you do yoga and meditation.  It could be an idea you’re not ready to share.  Mars and Mercury in Gate 21 are telling you that this new protectiveness needs to be treated carefully and respectfully and that the results will be far beyond what you might imagine.

This is definitely a time when it is your sacred duty to ask “what’s in it for me?” because you are returning to the centre of your own life and everything to come will radiate from that place.

The Sun is in Gate 3, in one of what I call the birth channels.  These are the channels that connect the Sacral Centre (creation) with the Root Centre (birthing into the physical).  It adjoins Magdalena in Gate 60 – Limitations.

Gate 3 holds the potential to create something new.  It’s not about action per se, but it signifies a time for preparing to take action, to observe and respond to the subtle shifts that are creating a new order out of old chaos.

In line 2, we are resisting a familiar and dominant pressure to accept an alliance with the old order, and waiting with patience for new alliances to form.

There is a lot to be said about insanity in this Full Moon.  Venus holds an important position in the Solar Plexus Centre in Gate 36, the place where our brightness is injured, where we feel that our soul is locked in a dark and difficult place.  This is the place where we believe ourselves to be insane.

In line 4 we flee a place where insanity seems normal, and wait for things to change before returning.  It’s fascinating in Human Design terms that this line also talks about going into the heart and belly to find the truth.  Mars and Mercury (21) and Jupiter (51) are in the Heart Centre and the Sun (3) is in the belly (Sacral).  There is a huge importance for us in listening to what’s happening in our hearts (Ji Centre) just now and avoiding the pressure to continue to believe the insanity. To actually trust in our own sanity.

Another, perhaps more personal, aspect of the insanity is Ophelia who is linking Pluto and Saturn.  She is in Gate 18, which deals with family madness, the curse of sharing a delusional view of the world with those we love so that not one of us can really see clearly what is going on.  Ophelia, a character in Shakespeare’s Hamlet, is fascinating me just now and that’s not surprising given that the asteroid Ophelia is transiting in an incredibly crucial place in the Human Design chart.

Given the current activations to the Gate of Shock, I was intrigued to see this quote about Ophelia:

Her frailty and innocence work against her as she cannot cope with the unfolding of one traumatic event after another.

Ophelia is innocent and inexperienced in the ways of the world, aware only of love and affection.  This leaves her open to being manipulated by those who purport to love her – her father, her brother and her lover.   Rather than treasure her they abuse her innocence to gain their own politically motivated ends and in the end she goes mad and then dies, perhaps at her own hand.  In Gate 18, Ophelia represents the family madness inflicted upon the innocent within each one of us.

Given the placement of Venus (brightness wounded), and Uranus (innocence), there is a definite energy here of how we have been made mad by the world.  That madness has, in a sense, served it’s purpose in keeping us safe by providing some shield to our innocence.  But now we have to find the courage to drop those defences, to reach the place where we are consciously aware of the insanity of the world and it’s shockingly abusive ways.  It’s crucial that we see how we have separated from this insanity, and how we are now about to recover from it’s effect on us.

Helping out in a big way is the Kuiper Belt Object called 1992 QB1.  On the Full Moon she was conjunct the Sun.  She’s become one of my favourites, providing a bridge of consciousness between the old world: think Pluto and his obligatory trips to the underworld,  and the new world: think Haumea, Makemake and Quaoar and their message of dancing and celebrating new creations into life.

It can seem that there is an overabundance of things to be done just now.  That’s the old energy trying to drag you away from your own simple knowing.  As aspects of your life break and fall away, thank them for what they have brought to you and release them with love.  As things rise in a crescendo of chaos, breathe deeply and wait for the implicit order to arise and inform you of the new creation you are bringing to material reality.  Take yourself and your journey seriously, but don’t be too serious about it. The Galactic Centre and the Nodes are fully engaged in this Full Moon.  Aligning with a greater sense of reality brings peace …. and a sense of sanity.  It is real, and so are you.

Your Golden Ticket

16th December 2010

I must be crazy … crazzz eeeyy. And my excuse? An upcoming solstice preceded by a Galactic Centre activation and accompanied by a full lunar eclipse. Feel free to lose the plot anytime you like. Actually, you probably won’t be surprised to know that there is a huge opportunity to make a choice wrapped up in this package. It’s almost as if the conductor is calling “All Aboard” and we’re prevaricating. Do we want to leave behind the devil we know and set out for new lands? Is that ticket to ride that’s burning a hole in our pocket a winner? Or perhaps something more sinister?

Ross Hilbert ~

Let’s see if we can map out some of this new territory and make the choice a bit easier.

Firstly, let me say that the December Solstice (summer here for us in Australia, winter for many of you), is always preceded by the Sun passing over the Galactic Centre at 27 Sagittarius. Think of it as an early Christmas present each year, as we are all impulsed with at least one amazing idea that probably manifests weeks later as a new years resolution.

Secondly, the solstice always occurs in Gate 10 line 2, or occasionally in line 1. It talks about treading calmly and without attachment to the world, not trying to have any effect on others but simply living in your own truth.

This year the North Node happens to be transiting in Gate 10 as well, adding the flavour of an unknown destiny to the mix. We also have the lunar eclipse which is not a usual fixture. Eclipses in astrology are portals that allow something new to enter our reality. A lunar eclipse is about being able to receive in order to find greater integration of self. In our culture we are so out of balance towards giving that many of us have lost the ability to be still and simply receive unconditionally. This imbalance affects us on all levels as lack (not receiving), loss (doing without) and greed (trying to take by force what we felt naturally entitled to but were unable to unconditionally receive). In this milieu we have begun to confuse taking with receiving. Which creates problems because the act of taking comes from the mental/ego self while the ability to receive comes from the soul.

I’m doing research on the endocrine system just at the moment and it is so obvious how these factors also have a profound effect on our physical health and emotional wellbeing.

Overall, what’s happening now is that we are descending into our physicality. When I say ‘descending’ I’m talking about anchoring much higher densities of love and light into our bodies than they’ve ever experienced before. Notice I say love and light, it’s the combination of the two coming in at once that is creating that swirly feeling of not knowing which way is up. As we stitch duality back together, love and light become entwined until we can no longer see them as separate. Masculine and feminine, heart and mind, body and soul, time and space, good and evil all swirl and blend until there is only heaven on earth.

In terms of the activations to the Spleen Centre, this is opening up our ability to communicate with others and discern the truth in entirely new ways. Our bodies are basically communication centres that have been largely shut off from their true expansive capacity to interact with life.

Which means that the gifts we mastered in previous lives have not been readily available for us to share. Leaving us all impoverished, trapped, in a sense, without access to our soul wisdom.

This year at the Solstice, the Sun makes strong astrological connections to Uranus, Neptune, Chiron, Makemake, Juno, Kassandra and Magdalena as it passes over the Galactic Centre and moves towards it’s date with the Moon. Chiron and Neptune (30.3) together give a natural sense of the unified reality from which the world of form derives and to which it eventually returns (Melanie Reinhart). Makemake brings us new skills for creating such an abundant material reality that it looks like impossible magic to those who take a more “logical” view.

Juno and Magdalena are seeking equality – Juno in relationship and Magdalena in spiritual leadership. They are both seeking to be reunited with the beloved, in whatever form that takes. What they hold in common with Kassandra is a desire to have their voices heard without having to compromise to old and outmoded ideas of what constitutes the feminine, and without succumbing to the power issues inherent in gender roles in our communities.

All three are seeking to be given the time and space to honour and be receptive to the inner self, a rare commodity for most of us most of the time.

Pan is conjunct the Moon at the moment the Sun touches the Galactic Centre. He brings in the juicy masculine who has a powerful and receptive relationship to the feminine, the soul and nature. He is nothing like the masculine informed by harsh rationality.

Trans Neptunian Object Logos (6.4) and Atlantis (46.2) make themselves obvious as well. Our desire for love is being syphoned off and used to keep us in thrall to the apparent economic miracle of capitalism to provide everything we could possibly need. I’m also noticing a rise in the awareness of the effect of cult thinking. You’re either in or out and only those who are in will be loved and saved (Damocles, Nessus and Orpheus in 13.5). Watch for apparently logical information that somehow squeezes your heart dry while weirdly appealing to your mind. This is a glamour and delusion that is leaving the planet as our body and heart come together to inform us of multidimensional truth.

There really is a simple underlying principle at work here. You are nourished at the soul level and that nourishment flows down into every aspect of your life. It doesn’t stop at the Crown, at the mind or heart. It goes right down through your toes, into the heart of the earth and then wells back up, full of love, to nourish you afresh. There is no lack when we live in this place. There is no need for struggle, or to experience loss or greed. We have chosen the golden ticket for this experience and each one of us can choose whether we take the ride.
